Thousands of Americans Waste $348 a Year on subscriptions They’re Not Using.
Recent research from Zuora found that 71% of adults across 12 countries have subscription services and 74% believe that in the future, people will subscribe to even more services and own fewer physical goods.
Let’s meet Jenny, a recent subscriber who just got an overdraft charge for forgetting a subscription renewal.
On a warm Sunday morning, Jenny was having a relaxed sitting in her beautiful room after breakfast. She happened to check her bills and bank statements for some investments she has been planning on and noticed an overdraft fee of $100 due to a lapse in judgment from an auto-renewal she forgot she had subscribed to.
Jenny is worried about some unexpected bills.
Jenny gets stressed and worried about money. And she is not alone...
She gets stressed with the overcharges from the past few months that she was not aware of.
“Nearly 6 in 10 U.S. adults who signed up for a free trial were later charged against their will.”
Jenny feels sad and hates subscribing to the free trials. She keeps forgetting to cancel them before renewal, and that's why she is not in love with subscription services — No wonder that is why 84% of Americans spend about $240 a month on them. Most people don’t know all the subscriptions they have. So…
How might we recoup subscription costs for Jenny so she feels safe and confident?
So, here is our team’s attempt at answering this question, and we are calling it Grapes.
Grapes is an intelligent app that Auto-Swaps, Auto-Cancels, and Auto-Saves on subscriptions that you are no longer using. Saving, hundreds of dollars annually.
How Grapes builds trust with subscribers.
Jenny was stressed about losing money. She was cautious and reluctant to integrate a new app with her bank accounts. So how did Grapes build trust with Jenny?
To start with, we intelligently integrate with Apple Screen Time API and Scan her screen time data on the phone to pull apps that she has not been using.
With access to the unused apps, we thereby needed to Auto-Cancel to save Jenny money. However, we need access to her iTunes account to understand for which apps she has a subscription. This enables the software to cross-examine unused apps with paid subscriptions.
Now, let’s take a look at other ways in which we can help Jenny save money.
The next saving opportunity is Auto-Swapping. In order to choose between two similar subscriptions that Jenny would need to consider a better deal. The software scrapes the web for new promotions from similar offerings and in a timely manner swaps on Jenny’s behalf at the right time when one free trial ends so that another can began.
Next, let’s take a look at another opportunity for Jenny to save money with the new integration.
How integrating with Apple Mail finds other subscriptions to cancel.
In an effort to build more trust with Jenny, the subscriber, we stage-gate the sequence to have her grant permission to access her Apple Mail.
By integrating with Apple mail the software pulls out other subscriptions for Jenny, autocanceling them for her. Making it a very smooth experience for her.
Jenny is integrating Grapes with every saving opportunity app suggests and saves money with a click!
Grapes then with Jenny’s permission, access to Apple wallet to examine which subscriptions she has and Auto-cancels the ones she has not been using.
Furthermore integrating with Apple Maps and GPS location hardware on the device, we can determine if Jenny has gone to her local gym or not. Subsequently, the app can cancel 24hr Fitness. Saving Jenny $24 a month.
With the above smart integrations, Using IoT (the internet of things), Grapes consistently keeps digging saving opportunities up for Jenny with Auto-Swap, Auto-cancel, and Push Notifications.
Jenny is feeling Happy and Confident with the money saved through Grapes.
Thus, enabling Jenny to confidently take back control of her finances.
Through helping subscribers like Jenny save Grapes earns revenue by taking a small percentage of the money Jenny saves each month by providing a SaaS.
